EVENT DETAILS
The red wines of Château Musar are sometimes likened to the classic Clarets of the Médoc, other times to authentic Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Rioja, whilst ALWAYS retaining their own own unique style and spirit. This dinner is particularly well-priced and we expect to see plenty of interest from Musar lovers, and newcomers alike...

The Bekaa Valley vines and wines have endured and thrived through the turmoil in the region, to receive critical international acclaim from the likes of Michael Broadbent, Master of Wine and Director of Christie’s, and see owner Serge Hochar named Decanter Magazine’s first ever ‘Man of the Year’, no less. (Not bad given the competition back in France!)

Musar was founded in 1930, and partly inspired by the Barton family of Château Léoville-Barton in St.Julien, Haut-Medoc. For this reason the Château Musar Grand Vin Rouge is mostly planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, and is given three years ageing before and after bottling. The Grand Vin Blanc is made from some of the highest altitude vines in the ‘old world’, which are also ungrafted, a massive rarity, found only in Bollinger’s top Champagne, Noval’s Nacional Vintage Port, JJ Prum’s Mosel Rieslings, or Cornelissen’s Etna crus.

This dinner will be hosted by Serge’s nephew Ralph Hochar of the third-generation, on a night away from looking after the fourth.
