For fans of fine wine, please note. This could be our best event yet!

Established by the late, great Bill Baker in 1981, Reid Wines are traditional suppliers to private collectors and to the hotel and restaurant trade. Bill had a long association with Sir Terence Conran and latterly with Peter Prescott, having helped with the original concept for the Boundary restaurant wine list. Sadly, Bill passed away in 2008, but things haven’t changed. Reid Wines continue to buy parcels of old and eclectic wines, from old Madeira to old fizz, and many of the rare bottles in the Boundary cellars have been supplied by this prestigious merchant.

The object of this tasting is to showcase a range of wines that unless you have tasted, or have prior knowledge of, would pass you by. We will start with an apéritif of seriously aged Krug Grande Cuvée NV, to whet the taste buds. This will be followed by Alsace from 1989, then some white Burgundy from the 1980s by Ramonet and Sauzet, both made great wines during this period. The reds will include Gigondas 1970 by Paul Jaboulet Aîné, Château La Pointe 1955, and red Burgundy from the 1960s. All will be finished off with an unknown old Madeira and Port. A few treasures will be uncorked.

Unlike our other events, this will not be a tutored tasting, but more of an evening to revel in these great wines. David Boobbyer of Reid Wines will be joining the table and will inevitably share a few stories about the source of these great wines and his many years working with Bill.
